"Building a better workplace"

Teamworks Talk - June 2009
Dear [fname]

What Recession?
How's the recession going for you? Australia claims to have avoided the recession, after reporting positive growth in the previous two quarters. The Australian newspaper reports that "Australia has avoided a technical recession, which is defined as two consecutive quarters of economic contraction. The economy last suffered a recession almost two decades ago..." Read More>>

What's so great about Open Space?

John Stuart recently facilitated some Open Space Technology sessions for the International Paralympic Committee in Bonn, Germany.

Open Space Technology is based on the following principles:

The right people

Whoever comes are the right people.

The right outcome

Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.

The right time

Whenever it starts is the right time.

The end

When it’s over, it’s over. See some images here>>

Teamwork

 The Art of Possibility

Digby Scott suggests reading The Art of Possibility by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander (Penguin Books, 2002). Each chapter highlights a distinct concept, which is illustrated through a variety of compelling personal stories combined with powerful questions directed to you, the reader, to ponder and act upon.

Digby says the book is above and beyond much of the "feel-good" literature out there; it provides you with a framework to think and act within, allowing possibility and potential to emerge.

"The Teamworks team certainly “walk their talk”. They have given us lots of theory, but they have also shown us by their own example as a team. The complex issues we have had to work through were a challenge welcomed by Teamworks". - Shane McManaway, Australian Manager: CropCare Ltd
